you're three riding away from home on a tricycle for the usual reasons you're eighteen riding greyhound to los angeles you're in beverly hills waiting to be discovered because pretty woman is trending you're twenty driving drunk all over the texas hill country chainsmoking marlboro reds screaming along with the lizard king SAVE US JESUS you're thirty something flying into san francisco dazzled then heartbroken by city lights drinking the ouch away in vesuvio's because jack kerouac will always be trending you're in santa cruz manically singing karaoke until the deejay cuts you off you're in oakland eating pizza drinking beer on a rooftop you're in ben lomond eating caesar salad with your toes yesterday you were in new york city a year before the towers came down wishing you were a poet on the flyer rather than a tourist coming off paxil cold turkey then boom you're twelve again sweating in your garage bedroom to van halen and the footloose soundtrack dreaming of california and love so amazing it puts air supply outta business blink blink you're in vegas the first time the second time the third time the fourth time the last time getting married again arguing with elvis who does not think blue hawaii is a wedding song oh the tease of the synchronized water fountains the ironic gleam of caesar's obnoxious palace the unapologetic tacky red pink orange aesthetic of circus circus where old whores go to drink screwdrivers and spin slots until they die the sangre sunrise of the mojave the palm trees from fremont to the stratosphere wake up you're riding the 100 primo in downtown san antonio your son dressed as captain america you're the mother who tries who tries who tries sobbing to saturn there will never be enough pinatas there will never be enough candy looking through plane window seeing the swamps of florida the whatever of ohio hello mexico again your shitty beautiful border towns taste testing tequila in the shop with the black velvet matador paintings and gargantuan margarita glasses singing patsy cline's most famous song in the legendary taco restaurant fast forward to year of the galloping fire horse and it's london with your mercury twin the love of your long long life chips and curry in a hotel that knows how eighteen years of friendship myspace to facebook to instagram to gmail to whatsapp the goddamn gorgeous foundation for sapiosexual vanilla swirled with dark chocolate and raspberry fucking kissing and it's real laughing and it's real crying and it's deeply felt strolling through paris with more style than henry miller and anais nin because better cock better nipples better hearts better minds the rest of the world may or may not catch on and catch up here's our stained glass library
